GRUNDIG 3026PH strange tube socket

      Hello to all,

      I recently got this very nice Grundig Radio-Pickup combination in very good condition.

      On the top of the radio cabinet and next to the PE pickup, there is a strange octal tube socket.

      Please see the pictures below (sorry, the upload does not work for me);

      Does anyone know what is the purpose of this tube socket?

      Thanks a lot
      nik

      Hello Nik Chatou

      This socket is not orign. From GRUNDIG.

      It can bee, an Tube.Socket as Connector for external Loudspeakers, or an Remote-Control for Linepower on/ off. The white Connector (can have internal wires) makes, thats the Unit works without extenal Speakers or without Remoteswitch.
      Your (not exact or good ) Picture say it can bee both. You can test: remove the white Connector.
      What goes away? Light on Dial or the Sound, or Nothing?

      Regards hans
