Unfortunately, I can't find the blog any more.... I found it in a blog where they were saying that they kept the part of the chassis containing the power transformer and the two output tubes to come up with an active speaker. In this blog there were other pics of Freiburgs. Yes, according to the details you guys point out, it is photoshop.... How nice it would be to build a pair of amplified satelite speakers like this for the radio!

I found this interesting picture of a modified Saba Freiburg 11. The cabinet has been cut to fit the power amplifier and the power supply only. It became now an amplified loudspeaker. Nice to build two of these as satelite speakers for the radio! A lot of work, and high woodwork skills are required though. What do you think about this idea? Interesting to know your thoughts.... BeitragI adjusted the discriminator. It works much better. AM stops in every single station left and right, and the auto tuning is stopping exactly where it should, in the center of the carrier of each station. The strenght of the dial knob against my hand when I try to move it away from the tuned station is very high. BeitragDieter, It seems like years and years of connecting and disconnecting the motor through this switch generated sparks that were depositing slowly carbon that linked these two contacts. Do you know where I can find which hole on the discriminator holds the adjustment I should change to make the automatic tuning system stop exactly in the center of the station carrier?

Ok, I couldn not solve the issue alone with no help. I checked all the resistors around the two tubes related to the automatic tunning, everything looks ok. I had already replaced all the caps. I even replaced the cap on the chassis, the one in the can that goes to the motor. I tried another ECL80. Nothis worked. I measured all the voltages indicated in the schematics, and only one was not correct (the one in one of the grids of the penthode section in the ECL80, wich reads 90V instead of 180V b…

Ok.. time passed and things got worse. I didn't even take the chassis out of the cabinet. I was playing with the front buttons and suddenly the system stopped working. Pressing any of the 4 buttons it just goes forward, not backward any more, and it doesnt stop in any stations....

Hi all, Maybe you already saw my other thread. I replaced all the capacitors and oiled the mechanical parts of the radio. Sound and mechanics are great now. The problem is that the motorized tuning only works in FM in backwards. In forward it just skips all the stations and reaches the end of the dial. in AM it works well in both directions. I started playing with the buttons and I discovered that the stereo-mono switch affects the +B voltage. When in mono, the voltage on the plates of the EL84 is 250V.
