Golden strips
Peter J - - Andere Marken
BeitragHello, couldn't exactly find this topic, although I'm sure it was described somewhere. What tricks do you have to make those golden strips on Saba radios? First I tried to cut them out of golden paper but that's not it, then use golden marker, but it's hard to draw a straight line... I would have to make some kind of tool to hold that marker steadily. So I'm not satisfied with those solutions. Now I'm working on a housing from Meersburg 6-3D and I have to make those strips. Any suggestions? Best…

Saba Meersburg Automatic 125
BeitragHello, you should check download section - in service manual of Freiburg 12 there's a very good description of automatic circuitry in English. And as far as my Sabas are concerned, never had a problem with this metal capacitor.

Problem with later Sabas
BeitragHello, thanks for your answers, amazingly, Dieter's trick helped with Freiburg 100, now I have to switch loudspeakers in Meersburg. I hope this also will help. Martin, I checked this vibrations without backplate so I excluded it immediately. That's the first time I encountered similar problem (maybe except for Grundig 4090 where old foam dust got inside the coil). Regards Piotr

Problem with later Sabas
BeitragHello, I have problem with my two of later Sabas - Meersburg 125 and Freiburg 100. Both have similar problem - when I'm listening to some UKW stations (even not so loud), there some rumbling sound, seems like slight resonance in loudspeakers or loudspeaker wall. Screws aren't loose, everything seems to be in order (voltages), I replaced capacitors, but it still persist. What is interesting it's the same in both radios. I checked loudspeakers, membranes are moving without any scratching. All my e…

http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/scarabee_capronford.html Look at my radio - I also had trouble with identification, but there were many similarities to models of Scarabee so I decided it's perhaps that manufacturer. In your place I would look for similar models on radiomuseum in Belgium and France. You can try with models from 1936-1950. Slim chance that you will find schematics, for my radio I drawn them myself.

Currently I'm waiting for destroyed WIII, but with rear wall and loudspeaker material intact. I also inserted rewounded transformer and radio play wonderfully on FM. But there's a problem with AM - it plays only when Taste "Breit" is pressed down. Also magic eye works good only with that button. If none of these buttons is enabled, or when in "Schmal" mode, eye is fully closed, so much that both "wings" are overlapping, never mind the signal. Similar situation is also when TA is pressed down. I …

Hello, so after few weeks I finished restoration of this poor Freiburg. I'm just waiting for small transformer (it's being rewound) and the work is done. I also need to make a rear wall, as original one is sadly missing. Here's a couple of pictures: obraz001.jpg obraz003.jpg obraz009.jpg It looks almost like an original: obraz120.jpg Now I'm starting collecting parts for its older brother - Saba 212WL: obraz017.jpg For those of you interested - rewinding data for this small transformer: Primary …

BeitragHello, I can clarify that Grundig/Unitra. In the second half of the '60 Polish factory ZRK signed a deal with Grundig for licensed version of the series TK120, 140, 125, 145 and their respective transistor models. First of those tape recorders were manufactured using original parts by Grundig, then Polish produced parts. Of course I don't have to tell you, that those early devices were much better. What's interesting, ZK140T was manufactured till the end of the '80, as it was cheap and popular t…

Kurioses VII
Beitraghttp://allegro.pl/radio-lampowe-i2920401521.html Is that Saba? Housing looks similar to models from years 38/40, Drehko and aluminium cans are similar too, but I couldn't find similar model in radiomuseum.

Hello, I have a question - recently I finished restoring Grundig 5050W. Unfortunately both electrostatic loudspeakers are broken, so the radio plays somewhat dull - not enough high tones for my taste. So what kind of loudspeakers would you suggest to replace them? Should I try to install dynamic loudpeaker? Regards Piotr
