Halo !

Just for information, Canada is divided in 10 provinces (roughly like Landers) and 3 territories. The amateur call signs in Canada start with VE or VA, followed with a number specific to each province, so VE0 would be in Newfoundland, VE1 in east part (NB, NS and PEI), VE2 for Québec, 3 for Ontario, etc... Sailors have call signs starting with VO, only when they are sailing. So I would become VO2 HDD when sailing and go back to VA2 HDD when I'm back home. Strange but so very Canadian !!

I only know VA to VE, VO for sailors is new for me.

In Germany we have some special call signs, too.
DA is an old tradition for interestet SWLs, exchange of qsl cards via bureau possible.
The 0, e.g. DK0TU, is for club stations.
DN is only for schooling, there is always an OM in the background.

Dear Claude!

Now you have an avatar, picture.
My one is also UHER, series Report Monitor.
It seems to be a UHER Logic with omega drive, SG631.
I have also a SG631, very good machine if in good condition.

Be careful with the tapes!
You will have very good results with BASF LPR35, back coated tape.
Because of the omega drive you need back coated tapes for low W&F.
Excellent is MAXELL XLI but the machine needs a new alignment.

I would dream to find an SG631 in good condition, because not many SG631's were sold here in Canada; even in US also I suppose.

I attended the Friedrichshafen Hamfest twice but I had no luck.

I keep looking !

I'm back to my hobby after a long and unplanned break.

Hallo to all members !

After much work I was able to fully repair my 9141 tc.

The final list of parts I had to replace : power switch (burnt contacts), the power relay (broken contact), the filter capacitors (replaced with inappropriate parts by previous owner), I had to clean the contacts on module 15 (Netzteil), change the "Funktions Platte 40" as the muting switch no longer stayed pushed in when activated; and last the speaker switch (Thanks to Yogi GSX ! :thumbup:

).
On the remote I had to replace both 220uF capacitors, the BSR50 transistor and the three IR LED's.
It now plays perfect; I'm very happy with my purchase.

I will post pictures when I figure out how !

Hallo to all members.

Two pictures of my repaired and working 9141 tc. It was a long journey ! Thank you to YogiGSX and dl2jas for help and advice.
To enjoy my work I connected a pair of Dynaco A25's with the SABA they sound even better then usual.

On the third picture you can see what I think is abrasion marks on the finish. By experience do you have any suggestion on how to hide it ?

The contacts on the power switch were very worn, see attached picture. Do you see the same problem in Europe or is it because of the higher current in North America with 120 V mains ?

Hallo to all members.

Last two pictures before I move to my next project. Inside view, the new filter capacitors and the power relay are inside the red circles; and close up of one of the two differences between European and US version of the 9141 tc. First 120 V power transformer and last the "US" stamp on the ID sticker inside. A very small difference indeed !

I need another information to really finish my repair of my 9141tc. Can a member please take a picture and also measure the plastic feet under a 9141 tc ? There is nothing under mine, so I suspect there were lost by the previous owner.

Dear Claude,

yes, they are normally gone, pulverised or worse ... and I can only recommend to use some felt pads instead. I use 4-5 for the front bar, each about 10 mm in diameter and 3-5 mm thick, and another 2-3 for each side bar. With this, the 9141 stands perfectly, makes no marks on the furniture, and nothing ever dissolves again ...

From your answer I suspect that the plastic from the original feet turns into a sticky, gooey stuff ? As if the plastic wants to turn back into dinosaurs !

Yes, they are never usable any more these days ... so, replacements are needed. As a matter of fact, I just completed the revision of a 9141, and again used felt pads.
