SABA WILDBAD 8
BeitragFinally finished!Sound is very warm and all working nicely.Only the on-off switch turns on the radio after the 4th hit,but thats not a problem.I consider it as "safety"Also i have to find or make my own decoration in front of the big dial knobs. I want to thank Rawa 71 once again. IMG_20180324_174346.jpg IMG_20180323_124214.jpg IMG_20180323_132750.jpg IMG_20180325_085543.jpg

BeitragGood evening Gentlemen. Finally the issue with all those strange sounds and muting was from the output tube EL84 I replaced it with a Russian 6P14P-EB and it works excellent! No strange noises. All clear even at high volume. Of course i bypassed the on-off switch until i try to open and fix it. Also to change some remaining capacitors. youtube.com/watch?v=AvX9YOW52VQ&feature=youtu.be I would like to Thank you all

BeitragI agree, the purpose of the forum is the help of the man who knows, to somebody who does not have the knowledge and experience, to repair to improve, to preserve his favorite radio sets that have been made so many years ago by a legendary name like the SABA Unless i am mistaken, and help is selective or personalized. Rainer mostly, offered to help me fixing my Saba Radio, but i guess the comment from Jogi offended him in a way. (Thats why my reference to the great Poet)

BeitragI have changed the ECC92 tubes but after some time doing the same. Both times. Played a bit with the switch and took some pics. After that it does not turn on again,... Its always off. It needs to get open and fixed? Have anyone here tried this before i wonder,.. Thanks! IMG_20180210_180408.jpg IMG_20180210_180718.jpg IMG_20180210_182224.jpg

BeitragThank you for your fast response Rainer. I think you have right about the ECC92 failure.I guess i have to buy a couple. In fact this long electrolytic cap is 50μF and 30/35VDC as i can read.So i thought 47μF - 50V or 63V would be fine. Ceramic caps will work good? I have heard the sound changes using them. Another thing is the on-off switch. You think it can be fixed? Its always to the "on" position no matter how many times i hit the button.

BeitragYour suggestions and advice was valuable Rainer! I soldered the cap J223 to pin 2 ,replace the 100uf electrolytic capacitor, and the 8uf electrolytic also. Now the volume works as it should as you can see to the video. It works nicely but after sometime it goes silent with these strange siren sounds again. Sometimes these sounds are with music also together. That long electrolytic cap to the pic is it a special one?. or i can replace it with a normal 47μF 50V ? Hard to find the 500 and 5000 pf (…

BeitragPerhaps this capacitor is double one? It has 3 leads. To the photos you can see how it was soldered to the pins 1 and 2 Is my replacement one correct? should i do something with pin 2? Thank you! youtube.com/watch?v=lUlEpFc2FYE&feature=youtu.be IMG_20180209_161759.jpg IMG_20180209_185919.jpg

BeitragI have replaced these caps and there is an improvement i can say.It started to receive stations when i plug it, but the volume is steady low and after sometime it makes crazy noises as you can hear from the video.Capacitors 500pf-500VAC and 5000pf-500VAC are very hard to find. Rawa 71 said he have made a total recap. Can someone provide me a link or a shop to buy the correct capacitors? Thank you! youtube.com/watch?v=OtT3e4xuoYE&feature=youtu.be IMG_20180208_170244.jpg IMG_20180208_171001.jpg

BeitragGood evening Gentlemen. Here is what i did so far:Took out the chassis with care. The knobs were so so tight from the rust, as you can see from the pics.I managed to pull off all of them without to break.Put everything to the side and cleaned one by one.FM dial cord was broken.I replaced it with success. Also the AM dial cord broke after my effort to turn the knob.Replaced also. That one was difficult comparing with FM's one.To my mind and from what i read, its a must to change all paper electrolyti…
