Saba Freiburg WIII bridge rectifier + speakers

      Hello,

I am new here and at the moment I am repairing a Freiburg WIII which I saved from the rubbish. Among other things I am planning to replace the Siemens bridge rectifier with 4 1N4007 diodes. Can someone suggest what value of resistor I should place in series between the new bridge and the filter capacitor?

Also, could someone suggest suitable speakers for this radio? I got the radio without speakers and from what I have found out the original speakers are hard to find and very expensive. Are there any alternatives from other models/radios etc?
      thanks!
Usually you start with ~150Ohm, plug the chassis in and measure the voltage on the capacitor and compare it to the voltage noted on the schematics. If its to low you reduce the value. Normally its something between 80 and 150 Ohm. I can't help you with the speakers because I don't know what chassis sound good with the FB WIII.

      Hi Nik,

best would be taking the original ones as offered here:

It is the common Freiburg W3 dilemma: getting the radio chassis for free or very cheap without the original speakers `cause somebody thinking they would sound way better in chassis like these ugly ones:

It is definitely worth repairing the chassis: it is a great sounding radio.
