Saba Meersburg Automatic 125

I am working on a Saba Meersburg Automatic 125.
The radio works fine on FM and also on AM. I replaced several paper capacitors in the radio and the sound is very good.
Only the automatic is not working.
When I set the "Automatic-schalter" on the right side of the radio to on I heard some sound of the motor but nothing happens.
I looked at the forum and have followed some tips, such as downloaded the schematic and I have replaced C91 (0,3 uF). I have also placed new ECL80 and EABC80 tubes, but no changes.

      - Can someone tell me where to find some documentation of how this automatic circuit works so I can understand how this circuits works and what the voltages/signals I can expect on different points.

You can find a very good explanation in this forum by sagnix for example in this thread

This did help me a lot. Also you could check the contacts that may be deformed.

      good luck
      Frank

      Thank you Frank,
the explanation in the link you gave me, make it clear for me how the first part of the circuit works and I will check the signal at the grid of the EABC80 when I receive a strong station or no station.
I am looking for a description of how the motorcircuit is working.
      - There are two parts of the motor. Can someone describe how this works, what is exactly the meaning of the part of the motor with C91 parallel, how is it possible to drive the motor left and right?
      - Is it possible that C94 failed?
      - I have the schematic of the Meersburg Automatic 125, there are some switches, H2, H3, H4, T4, T1, SP4, H1, etc. I search for a description of these.

      Hi Martin,

same given name like me ;)

may be that will help you:
      http://www.radiomuseum.org/forum/reparaturmanahmen_zur_saba_automatic_steuerung.html
You are also allowed to search in "radiomuseum" for an english version.
I meant to remember there is one, but do not know now where exactly.

      Sincerely yours

      Martin

      Hi Martin,
this link will also help to understand the circuit.
Do you know the big metal capacitor C94 could also be bad, this capacitor I don't have replaced.

Hello, you should check download section - in service manual of Freiburg 12 there's a very good description of automatic circuitry in English.

And as far as my Sabas are concerned, never had a problem with this metal capacitor.

Thank you, the description in this service manual is very clear.
In the meanwhile I have found the problem: 1 of the 4 coils of the motor have a short circuit to ground, so the bad news is I have a challenge to find another motor for this radio.

      Hi Martin,

the entire motor should not be easy to get, but a single coil is possible.

Did you have a close look, where the short ist? May be its at the beginning and easy to repair.

      Fingers crossed, good luck !

      Regards, Dieter

Hi Dieter, yesterday I removed the "problem" coil.
As you can see at the picture there is a little crack at the right upperside of the centre of the coil. I think that's the cause of the short circuit.

I have also a Meersburg 8 automatic with a faulty power transformer and exchange temporary the motor with Meersburg 125.
Now, the motor begins to work, the fast left and right search works!
But the fine tuning is not working. I measured the voltages at the grid of triode ECL80 and EABC80 and there's the -7,5 V available. When I measure with an oscilloscope at the grid of ECL80 I see the if-signal (both: when selected FM 10,7 MHz and when selected AM 455 kHz).
When I selected one of the inner switches of the manual control buttons nothing happens, or sometimes the motor turns very very slowly.
Is it possible that the relay is not working?
I hope someone of you can give some help
